from renowned Top Chefs?
Executive coach Miguel Noguerol sought to answer this question after personally interviewing award-winning top chefs from around the world as part of his research for his master’s thesis on leadership based on a leader’s emotional capacity, conducted at INSEAD, one of the world’s top business schools.
Passionate about the challenges of organizational leadership and haute cuisine, Miguel boldly examined the application of skills from contemporary emotional leadership theories by top chefs—all awarded Michelin stars or listed in the ranking of the 50 Best Restaurants in the World.
In this work, he shares with readers the fruits of this research. He identified three leadership archetypes—anchored in a leader’s emotional capacity—that serve as models for re ection and inspiration for organizational leaders across various industries and fields: the Passionate Nonconformist, the Determined Eagle Eye, and the Trustworthy Coach.
Each archetype consists of a set of leadership competencies that, when used together, aim to help leaders
achieve Emotional Proficiency for Excellence in their business environments.
In this book, the author shares not only the results obtained during his academic research, outlining leadership profiles based on a leader’s emotional proficiency for organizational excellence, but also his journey as a gastronomy enthusiast while interviewing award-winning chefs around the world.

WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT LEADERSHIP FROM MICHELIN STARS TOP CHEFS
MIGUEL NOGUEROL works as an executive coach and consultant in the field of leadership and organizational development. With over 30 years of experience in leadership roles, he has been both a leader himself and, more recently, supporting tother organizational leaders and their teams across various industries worldwide.
Miguel has served as a senior executive at major global technology companies, including roles as corporate vice president and regional president of Latin America at Sun Microsystems and Motorola Solutions, as well as the Global Head of Sales and Channels operations at Zebra Technologies.
He holds a master’s degree from INSEAD in Consulting and Coaching for Change, with distinction, and is a certified professional coach (ICF) from the University of Miami. Miguel earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, followed by postgraduate degrees in Industrial Systems Automation from Centro Universitário FEI and Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV).
Miguel was born in Brazil, lives in the USA since 1998 and speaks fluently English, Spanish and Portuguese. He is passionate about Organization Culture Development, and Change Leadership. His multicultural executive leadership background and psychodynamic approach to leadership study enables him to assist and partner with his clients from multiple culture and backgrounds to enhance their individual and organizational leadership capability, by creating and holding a reflective and thought-provoking space, in which the balance of Awareness, Challenge, Support, and Accountability to Action can take place.
